I’m really excited to share this room with you guys, we moved into our home about 5 months ago. Before we moved in we spent the first month renovating, replacing the floors throughout, knocking out a wall and painting. We took a break for several months from house projects after being depleted of energy with all the renovating. But now I am feeling a new sense of creative design and have been getting my hands dirty.
Function, Person and Aesthetics the three categories I focus on when designing a room.
Our bedroom is home to most of our books, I enjoy having them in the bedroom because it’s my favorite place to read. This is where we catch up on zzz so it has to be the calmest most soothing (in my opinion) room in our home.
I love creating a romantic vibe in the master bedroom, pop of color with neutrals and candles. Lots of candles. Green is my favorite color and so I chose to go very bold with this color and paint the walls floor to ceiling in Behr’s Equilibrium it can be found at Home Depot. My husband loves a dark bedroom, with no outside light.
I have our spines turned the other direction to help with visual stress and as one instagrammer puts it cognitive overload. The color, fonts and letters on the spine overstimulate me and make me feel anxious, so the solution is to turn them around.
Aesthetic is defined as, having a sense of the beautiful; characterized by a love of beauty, concerned with the study of the mind and emotions in relation to the sense of beauty. Greenery, oil painting, art work with beautiful landscapes, prints and patterns that are delicate, gorgeous and make you feel things, good things. Those are the things I have added to our space.
Thank you for letting me share this space with you, it feels good to see it come together. This is part 1 of 2, if you follow me on Instagram then you know the other side of the room is incomplete. Part 2 coming, hopefully early 2020!
